Facts About Me
I Was Saved in Honor of Donny Gionta!
The "Gionta Strong" transport is in honor of our friend, Donald Gionta. Donny was diagnosed with esophagus cancer in June 2018. His positive attitude, his constant smile, and his love for his family and friends carried him through to Thanksgiving 2018. Donnie and his wife Maria have two adopted dogs: Duke and Jake. I loved watching the love between them. It makes my heart smile to know that we are helping to save many who would otherwise not be saved and knowing they will be named "Gionta Strong" and will have another chance in a loving home. Cooper was born about July 27, 2018 and will top out about 75 lbs. give or take. He has the most beautiful soft expression and he is just as sweet as he looks. The paperwork indicates he was left at a shelter in Kentucky due to family illness. Sadly, the medical notes from last November indicate that another large dog injured his leg…well, injured it enough so it was fractured and had to be set. We were told that there is some concern in his prognosis due to the fact that this fracture/injury occurred at such a young age and due to the location at the joint, that the growth plate was compromised. At this time he uses this leg, but not much weight is being put on it and he walks with a limp, but gets around just fine – it doesn't stop him from playing. He is wonderful with all the other dogs. He is openly friendly and affectionate. He has been crate trained as a pup and we were told he might have an accident if left too long, but we are not sure what that length of time might be. It also says he will go to the door when he has to potty. He has been wonderful with children of all ages. Cooper is one big, beautiful, boy ready to begin his whole new life!
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $250.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control – a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive – you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
