Dakota is a strikingly beautiful 9-10 month old, female, 58 lb., Chocolate Lab/Australian Shepherd mix. Her thick coat is chocolate brown, except her ears and the connecting part of her head, which are a light mochaÔøΩÔøΩÔøΩshe is a real stunner!
Bold and playful, Dakota can often be seen enthusiastically playing and horsing around with her canine foster mates, happily running around the yard chasing and being chased. She likes roughhousing so if she is with another dog, which she would prefer, they should be similar in size or larger.
This girl is intelligent and adjusted quickly to the routine of her foster home and knows what is expected of her. She is also a fun gal who has learned to play fetch (including in the pool) and is quite the swimmer; she also loves catching the water in her mouth when the hose is turned on. Dakota is connected to her people and attentive to where her humans are and what they are doing. She often follows her foster mom, settling by her feet as she works. Of late, she has een learning the pleasures of sitting on the couch with her humans for rest and relaxation in the evenings.
Dakota is house trained, sleeps through the night in her crate (and knows to go in it at bedtime), and knows sit and come. This is a girl who is loyal like a Lab, enjoys activity and play, and with proper exercise is just a delight to have around. We think she would be happiest in a home with a yard. Since Dakota can be mouthy and overeager, we will not consider applications with young children for her.
Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here:(https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/).
Please read about the adoption process (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-process/) so you’ll know what to expect when you submit. All fields on the application must be completed in order for our volunteers to process it (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/)
Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy, and our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care, so please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested prior to submitting. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health and safety of that dog.
We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering, and microchipping before transporting our dogs. Then, we provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources, so if you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are ‘changing lives…one tail at a time’ by providing our dogs with ‘A New Chance.’ (https://anewchancear.org)
Thanks so much.
