Facts About Me
Saved by CSEA Super Bowl Pool!
EA #6748 decided to do a transport because we love what Joyful Rescues does in giving dogs and cats a chance at a loving home. We truly believe in the motto "adopt, don't shop". Some of our members have adopted from JR and we love our Ivy and Ralphie! Officers of the union decided to have some fun with a Super Bowl pool with some of the money going to JR for a transport. It's really important to us to be able to help such a great rescue. We can't wait to see the dogs make their way to WNY! Thank you CSEA #6748 – here they are:
Gib was born about July 10, 2011 and weighs about 53 lbs. He's a Bulldog…lazy, quiet, loves his humans and he's been good with the other dogs. Someone in the Grundy VA area has to be breeding these dogs, irresponsibly, as he's at least the 4th one we've taken and they all have genetic health problems. Sure, Bulldogs are hard to find without genetic problems, but some of these things could be avoided with a breeder with a conscious. Here is the rundown: Gib has dry eye which could be related to the fact that his eyelids are entropic (inward rolling). He will need daily eye drops for his life. Surgery can be done on the eyelids, but he's gotten along this way for 8 years and their life expectancy is 8-11 years. He has a skin infection we are treating and these dogs often have this issue off and on throughout their lives. His ears are also infected and it has gone on a long time without care. He needs a dental which we will have done. He loves the staff and is always happy to see someone and greats them with cute grunting noises. This boy is going to be a project for the next family and he will thank you a thousand times over! We do have a bit of information from the previous family that Gib would run with the 8 y/o girl, but not normally active and that he has been living outside ALL THIS TIME! He's been wonderful with all humans and kids. The poor thing!!! He was given up due to financial problems and they are moving, guess his dog house couldn't come along. This is all we know so far as we will be learning as we go and so will you. The southern shelter doesn't ask questions on intake as they feel it is embarrassing to the humans dropping off their pets in this poverty stricken area of Virginia.
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $275.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control – a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive – you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
