Lilly is a 7 year old, 12 lb Poodle. She is very docile and loves to be pet- she will even paw at your hand if you forget to keep petting her! She loves running around outside and seems to do well with other dogs (small and large) and even cats (although she has not lived with them before). She seems to do well with strangers and off leash, and seems to know many commands- like sit and stay!
Lilly was peeing in her former home so she was being kept outside when we got the call to surrender her. We got her groomed, then to the vet! Her blood work showed Lilly has diabetes- no wonder she was having issues! She is doing great in her new foster home and is fine with her insulin shots and getting blood work every month or so. She knows how to signal that she needs to go out to go potty, but she does seem to need to be let out every 3-5 hours so she would be very happy in a home with someone that can let her out often. She doesn’t like being in a crate because she has never been in one, but does well in her new foster home when left alone. She loves being held, petted, running around outside, and car rides. Adopters will have to learn to give insulin shots (which are easy to give and Lilly is fine with them)! Caring for a dog with diabetes is extremely manageable but she will likely need daily insulin shots the rest of her life & monthly blood work to double-check her levels. High protein diets are also recommended.
She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
