You won't meet a sweeter or peppier GSD than Mimi. She's been through a lot, but she's remained in great spirits and is always willing to cover you in kisses.Mimi's human was killed in a car accident and she was taken to a shelter by the extended family. We rescued her and noticed she was wobbly in the rear, so she went to see our vet. She had an exam, blood work, and x-rays, but our vet said she needed to see a specialist, so we scheduled an appointment with a really well known neurologist. He wanted to do a genetic test for DM before doing an MRI, but she didn't have the genes, so we kept moving forward.Mimi had an MRI that showed spinal surgery was an option which could better her life, so she went to Dr. Berry at Southern California Veterinary Specialty Hospital for a hemilaminectomy. Her surgery was a great success! So much so that instead of using a sling to help her walk because her back legs were weak, we used a sling to help keep her under 30mph, as she had use of her back legs and wanted to gogogogogo! She's been doing therapy to strengthen her back legs and is doing great, has a great attitude, and enjoys hanging out in the yard with her GSD buddy and 10 pound Poodle gal pal. We know what an amazing soul she is and we know someone else out there will see what we see: a ridiculously sweet, gentle, energetic, fun, lovable girl who isn't going to let a medical issue slow her down one bit. This classic beauty is great with people and gets along with other dogs, knows 'sit' and 'down,' and can't wait to have a family again. She can get protective of what she thinks is hers, so she'd do best with a GSD savvy family.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 – $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
