* * ON HOLD * *
Ned is a handsome male Beagle who is around 9 years old, but don’t tell him that! He still thinks he’s a puppy! He’s a average-sized Beagle that weighs about 25 pounds. Ned is current on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and like all our adoptable dogs, he’s heartworm negative and on monthly preventative. Ned is crate trained and housetrained as well.
He’s an affectionate and happy Beagle that likes people and loves to give kisses! He doesn’t like to be alone for long periods of time and can be quite vocal about it so a home with someone that is home part of the day would be ideal. Ned is very active and playful and will need plenty of daily exercise and positive outlets for all his energy. He loves the other Beagles in his foster home, but his energy level might be a little overwhelming for a laid back, mellow dog so he’d probably do best with another high-energy dog to play with and provide companionship. We have not observed him around cats, so we recommend a cat-free home for Ned.
Ned has a seizure disorder that requires him to take medication every day and will need to for the rest of his life. His seizures have been generally well controlled through medication, but he does have occasional breakthrough seizures that require emergency veterinary care. He is otherwise a completely normal, happy and healthy dog. We think Ned will make a wonderful companion for a special person who is understanding and accepting of his condition. Prior Beagle experience would also be a plus.
IMPORTANT: Safe Hounds Beagle Rescue does not operate a shelter where the public can meet our dogs. All of our Beagles are cared for in a loving foster home. Prospective adopters must submit an adoption application and be pre-approved to adopt. Once an applicant is approved, we’ll begin a matching process—the right dog for the right home. Submitting an application does not guarantee that you will be approved. Please visit our web page: www.safehounds.com and click on "Adopting A Beagle" to learn more about the adoption process and to print our adoption application.
Unable to adopt? Please consider making a donation. By helping us we can continue to make a difference in the lives of these deserving dogs. We take in dogs with medical needs and behavioral problems that many other rescues turn away. We have lots of hungry hounds to feed and are always in need of financial support to help us meet the needs of the dogs in our care.
