Thank you Warner-Smith Family!
From the Warner-Smith Family: ‘I am so grateful for all the work that Joyful Rescues does to save the dogs and cats from the high kill shelters in the South. I adopted my dog Rusty from Joyful Rescues four years ago and he is a blessing.’ There are so many animals in need and your organization does a fantastic job of bringing them up to New York to give them a second chance. You also do a great job making sure the pets only go to respon sible families.’
Rooney was born around May 20, 2018 (Joyful’s guess is that he may be a year or two older than this) and weighs about 20 pounds. Rooney’s chosen breed is really a far fetch guess, whatever his make up really is he turned out just adorable and very sweet. Sadly, he is very shy of us humans, hanging back, afraid to come near, but you can see by his posture and eyes that he really wants to be loved. He is good about being held even though he shakes, this behavior will go away once he realizes that nothing bad is ever going to happen to him again and all humans, going forward, are kind. He is wonderful with the other dogs and did fine meeting the resident cat. Rooney is going to be a flight risk at first and you’ll have to be very careful not to loose him, but once he loves you it’s going to be all about you. Probably no little running, screaming, kids in his future as they will likely freak him out as they do some of us humans. This is all we know so far as we will be learning as we go and so will you. The southern shelter doesn’t ask questions on intake as they feel it is embarrassing as so often the reason is financial in this poverty stricken coal mining town of VA.
