Sargent is a very handsome half mini dachshund, and the rest is a combo of Chihuahua, Schnauzer, and Yorkie. He is around 15lbs.
He is very sweet and a great snuggler. He is crate trained and can spend up to 8 hours at a time in the kennel if necessary. He doesn’t require much exercise. He is perfectly content napping next to you all day, but does enjoy going outside if you are out and about as well. When he gets used to an adult or other dog, he gets along with them well.
He can be very anxious. He will bark at strangers and will become agitated for quite some time before calming down. I do not trust him around small children concerned he may nip. He currently lives with a cat, and periodically chases it. (they also nap together sometimes, so as long as you have a strong willed cat, it should be fine). He has been around chicken and will chase them if given the opportunity. He barks at almost any type of noise….. and barks/howls at anyone who comes within his proximity until he calms down. If you open or close a front door, he will bark at the top of his lungs. If you have him in your car and leave him there, he will bark at the top of his lungs. He is a runner. He won’t go far and always comes back quickly, but when he gets out from a fenced area, he won’t listen and will run off for a few mins. He likes to chew. I have intermittently lost clothing when left on the floor.
Sargent (sarge) needs a very particular home. One without close neighbors to be disturbed by the barking. One with someone who spends more time at home and can cuddle with him and working on his behavioral training. One that has a consistent schedule. He needs a fenced yard or property big enough that running after a bunny here and there won’t be an issue. He needs to be in a home without small children.
